Winter / Spring Job Shadow Deadline for the 2014-2015 school year: December 5, 2014

“Learn to be a good writer!” That’s a piece of advice that North Linn HS’s Lindsey Pflughaupt got from a US Federal Parole / Probation Officer (PPO) during a WLC Job Shadow at the US Federal Courthouse this fall. Two federal and one state Parole / Probation Officers met with a group of area high school students for a partial-day experience this month. The PPO’s gave the students their perspective on what it takes to become a professional Officer, from suggested college major, what to expect on the job, and what the teens could do right now to improve their chances of getting into this field. Writing skills are a must, along with great people skills and a desire for a bit of an adrenaline-rush in your job! The take away from this? Improve your writing skills, learn a foreign language if possible, keep your nose clean and graduate from college! To learn how to take advantage of this type of learning experience, contact Ms. Jaci Hilmer in the North Linn HS Guidance Office to apply for a Winter/Spring Workplace Learning Connection Job Shadow.
